America’s most important conservation and recreation program, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, has saved places in nearly every state and every county in the U.S. It will expire on September 30, 2018 without action from Congress. The time for action is now.

LWCR success: For more than a half-century, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has provided funding to help protect some of Minnesota’s most special places and ensure recreational access for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. It has provided funding for state and city parks, ball fields, trails, conservation easements to protect fish and wildlife habitat and drinking water, etc. Minnesota has received approximately $249 million in LWCF funding over the past five decades, protecting places such as Voyageurs National Park and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, in addition to grants funding projects in Aitkin, Anoka, Becker, Beltrami, Benton, Big Stone, Carlton, Carver, Cass, Chippewa, Clearwater, Cook, Cottonwood, Crow Wing, and many, many more counties throughout the state.

- Conservation of national, state, and local areas, wildlife habitat and open space from urban parks to large landscapes
- Improved access for sportsmen and recreationalists on federal, state, local, and private lands and waters
