Our first Conservation Leadership Corps turkey hunt weekend was an incredible success. It was a beautiful morning to hit the woods. Every hunter and mentor pair got on birds and either saw or got to interact with gobbling toms!

While no birds bit the dust, it was a phenomenal weekend. Everyone learned and laughed a lot, made memories, and will be better hunter conservationists moving forward! Thanks to all that came and helped make it possible to introduce new people to hunting.

The weekend started with a gathering at the Lake City Sportsmans club.  Lake City Sportsmans Club is a member of MnCF and a supporter of our Conservation Leadership Corps program.

Participants heard from local conservation officer Brittany Hauser about turkey hunting rules and regulations then learned about wild turkey biology and hunting tactics from MnCF board member Aaron Hebeisen. The group spent the afternoon patterning shotguns and shooting clay targets at a local farm before enjoying a meal together. The following morning each student, along with a mentor, took to the woods for an exciting morning hunt.
